The brief

Build a network of UK-focused topical authority sites that route qualified leads to a small set of CRM endpoints — without depending on any third-party SaaS for the orchestration layer, content generation, or lead intake.

The work spanned eight domains:

How we approached it

The team had three working principles:

  1. Sovereign infrastructure first. Every layer of the stack — CMS, automation, lead intake, newsletter — runs on infrastructure we own and can swap providers on without rewriting our integration code.
  2. Conservative content, not AI slop. Editorial pieces are commissioned with fact-grounding research (independent industry data, government guidance, verified specs). Programmatic templates take a small set of city/category variables and produce genuine, useful content for each combination.
  3. Lead capture is the point. Every site routes to one of three self-hosted CRM instances with full UTM attribution, custom fields, and Telegram-bot real-time alerts to the relevant sales operator.

Programmatic templates that don't look programmatic

The tempting failure mode of programmatic SEO is to build "[Service] in [City]" boilerplate that's identical across all 253 cities. Google's March 2024 helpful-content update penalised that pattern systematically.

What the calculators do

Five working calculators were built — heat pump payback, solar PV + battery ROI, insulation breakeven, smart heating savings, and whole-home retrofit budget. Each is vanilla JS in a single static HTML file, no JS framework dependency, fully indexable.

The calculators serve three functions: (1) they're SEO destinations in their own right, (2) they qualify leads better than any form by demonstrating intent, and (3) they capture the user's project specs in URL parameters so the sales rep sees the qualifying answers when the lead lands in CRM.
